Alaska, where wildlife abounds and humans are scarce
The Alaska we visit has over 1,000 islands and is home to the second largest rainforest in the world. Only The Amazon is larger. Our Southeastern Alaskan backyard is home to over 60 major glaciers, yet is only a two-hour flight from Seattle.
Aboard the Susan Dawn, we have traded the cruise ship bustle for a morning cup of coffee. Each day is your new adventure. Plan your day over a breakfast with our licensed staff, and pick which hiking, fishing, kayaking, or historical ports you want to visit.
Here are just a few trip ideas based on the most popular trips we have made.
A private charter means closer
Our size and flexibility provides great viewing and travel opportunities. Susan Dawn travels at a peaceful and respectful 8 knots. Don’t be surprised if we turn the engines off to view Killer Whales sleeping or Humpback Whales bubble feeding. Or move in close for great viewing of Black and Brown bears as they scavenge for food on isolated beaches.
We can also spend an afternoon ashore at one of the smaller Alaskan communities that are inaccessible to the major tourist ships.
catch fish on your own yacht charter
Southeast Alaska has a rich fishery providing excellent sport fishing for Salmon, Giant Halibut, Lingcod and a variety of fresh water and saltwater fish. Alaska's diversity of marine wildlife, including mammals, birds and big game, make for an incomparable experience with nature. The fish you catch can be prepared by our chef or vacuum packed and frozen for you to enjoy at home.
